Saturday, Oct 24th. In a way, this made me feel like I wished I had a normal birthday party once in my life. So this was a special day for my girl in the middle. Dressed up in this beautiful white gown, it was her debut. Filipinos have a tradition where girls have a special "coming to age" event during their 18th birthday. This was my first time going to an event like this and it was something different. Upon arriving, it felt like I was going to a wedding. The venue was small but beautiful and there was food, sweets, gifts, and everything was nicely decorated. The event was a different experience for me but I definitely enjoyed it.
Afterward, I also wished that during my lifetime I would have a little party for my own birthday. As a Chinese girl, we don't have a "coming to age" party. My mom told me that my "coming to age" party would be when I get married. Well, we seldom hold parties anyways and the last time I went to a party held by a Chinese family was when I was very young. I never had a birthday party held for me, as I always spent my birthday eating ice cream cake and hanging out with my brother. I don't mind getting a birthday party this large, but next year it would definitely be great to go out to eat with a bunch of friends for my birthday!
Friday October 16th. After that day, those people felt like a second family to me. All these people with the same interest and the same motivation. We had a performance (a lipsync) in front of around 1000 people from my college and parents also came to watch. It was my first time dancing in front of that much people, and it was great! We were the team that was hyped backstage and we were practicing our set individually like crazy backstage. The performance went very well and I was out of breath afterward! The performance was overall amazing and made us grow closer together. We even bonded at Wing Stop afterward, it was actually my first time at Wing Stop but it was definitely delicious. I can't wait for more performances to come with the team. It feels great to have this group of friends. We are all crazy, but as dancers we had to be.
Monday Oct. 12th. Yes, I am attempting to eat healthy. Ever since college started, I don't eat rice every day anymore so I also don't get my balanced meal of veggies and fruits. Lately I've been trying to eat in smaller portions and eat a balanced meal. I've lost 4lbs, so I really hope that tummy of mine goes away soon! This is when I realized how unhealthy it is to eat out so often, but I have no choice since I stay at school so late sometimes. I hope there will be more improvements on my diet. Do you have any suggestions?
Saturday Oct. 10th. It was the day of Barrio Fiesta which was an event held by the Filipino club. Our dance team (Rhythm Inc) was asked to perform first and it was a ton of fun. It was our first time performing all together and it was a great bonding time. Our set was very short, but it was fun nonetheless! The girls and guys that did the Filipino dances were amazing also and they were quite good at the dances. I'm glad I have this group of people I can call my friends. We practice so often, and this really pays off. Time for more performances!
Friday Oct. 2nd. I always start with the more interesting thing that happened first. I cut my hair! Don't say that you can't notice. There has been a couple people that I shown and they don't notice. Maybe it goes hand in hand with changing my hair very often so few notice. But I cut off about two inches (which is a lot if you have short hair) also I made a very blunt cut. There is just something cute and uniform about this blunt bob hairstyle.
I will try to have a video up on my YouTube channel soon on this hairstyle. I want to give you a fair warning that I did not cut this myself as it is very difficult to cut hair when it's so short and you can't reach the back. I attempted to cut it and you would be able to see that in the video, but it was not a success. So, I explained to my mom what I wanted and lead her step by step to cut my hair so I can achieve this look. She is in NO way a hairstylist, but she has cut hair for the family for such a long time so she learned a few things but is still an amateur, like me.
If you have questions about my haircut or anything feel free to leave a comment! I was also asked if my hair was still blue, and yes it is still blue and will stay blue for a while until all my natural hair grows out. It's just that the photos are in black and white so you can't tell what color my hair is. So, what do you think of my haircut? Link of my YouTube channel will be on the homepage. I will link the video of my haircut on this post when I have it uploaded (if I remember).
That's not the only interesting thing that happened this week. Well I wouldn't call my week interesting. College is getting harder, I must admit, especially my computer science c++ class. I had a midterm and I know I did not do well at all. Most of the questions I didn't even know how to answer (they were open ended). I'm in need of tutoring in that class especially because there are projects along the way and more tests so I need to know this stuff. Plus, this is my major so I should be good at it! Maybe, over time I will learn and even master programming!
Besides school and finding time to just relax, I've been at work. I wouldn't say work is hectic. It's fun, but sometimes I need the motivation to work since it doesn't pay me well. So, I just try to have fun every time I work, greet customers, and talk with my coworkers to keep me motivated. Motivation is what I need at the moment for all my tasks. Balancing so many things at a time is difficult, but I know with the right motivation, I can achieve anything!
