Get Yourself an (Egg) Slut

Since many people have been here already, then I must give it a review! The last time I visited LA, I meant to come here to try out their Egg Slut or one of their burgers, but I just hadn't gotten a chance to. When my friend had went to LA, she recommended that I should try it out when I go back so that's what I did!
Eggslut is located within LA's Grand Central Market. I previously didn't know the location so when I found that it was there I was excited because the whole place is filled with yummy food! Grand Central Market has a bakery, Thai food, Mexican food, fresh produce, and much more! If you want to be in a food coma then just come here. Most of the stands inside Grand Central open quite early.
At Egg Slut I got a slut and my love on the other hand, got a cheeseburger. Or at least if I remember correctly, that's what it was.
The slut is a cage free coddled egg with a potato puree. I must say that it tasted good, but not mind blowing good. I just found that the potato puree really wasn't anything special and that I probably preferred it more if it was grits inside instead. My man's burger was amazing though. I only had a bite but I can taste the juiciness of the bun and the eggs go really well with the beef patty. Even at a glance you can see how nice the bun might taste. I was never a fan of burger buns that are more chewy or more crunchy, but this bun had the right amount of "squish" let's just say. The downside to the bun is that I find it too thick and I want to get to the good stuff faster rather than chewing on a starchy carb, but that really is my own preference.

Maybe I should start rating places that I review. Okay out of 10 I would give it a 8.6. I rate out of 10 because 5 is just such a small number. The atmosphere of this place gives it the 0.6 points and the customer service was good too. We easily found a spot to sit and we also got to watch them cook. I think the only problem is that it's hard to find parking near Grand Central Market and also because the food didn't blow me away as much as I wanted to. Nonetheless, this place is on my recommended list!

Ramen cannot be resisted while visiting LA. Alex and I stayed in Koreatown airbnb. While we were there the second night we decided to hit up Slurpin' Ramen Bar for some delicious food. Slurpin' Ramen is a pretty new modern Japanese ramen restaurant. It happened to be across the street from our airbnb! The atmosphere had such a modern feel and we were kindly seated by a waiter as we walked in.
I titled this post "Tsuke Bae" because our waiter was so gorgeous, and I wasn't the only one who thought so! After the waiter had taken our order, my love slowly whispered to me, "I think he's pretty good looking" and I responded, "That's what I had thought as well, but didn't want to say anything". Okay, we both may sound a little creepy, but Tsuke Bae had the softest voice and the cutest face. He was probably around the same age as us, but of course that's not something we should ask. We also knew his name, but I'm just going to keep that bit a secret. We gave him the nickname, Tsuke Bae, because my man had ordered Tsukemen which is a modern Japanese dip ramen. The name was just fitting.

Okay, on with our food...I ordered a Tonkotsu, I believe, with an extra egg. I always get an extra egg because it's the best part to ramen especially if it's boiled perfectly. I like my egg to be soft-medium boiled, but it's a hit or miss to get the perfect egg. The Cha-shu in my ramen falls apart so nicely in my mouth and all of the ingredients in the ramen together makes it the perfect ramen! It's seriously the best I've had so far! The cha-shu was so good that my man proceeded to ask one of the waiters how they made it! The ramen noodles themselves can be a little bit more chewy, but I cannot compare the flavor of this to any other ramen I've had in the past. I really like Daikokuya's ramen noodles since they are a bit more chewy, but the flavors are more traditional compared to these flavors that are more light and fresh. It was all so good that we were stacking our spoons with noodle and everything else. We also ordered takoyaki and sausages which were amazing as well. The takoyaki was the best I've ever had and they are quite large too.
I want to say more about my man's Tsukemen, but I didn't eat a while lot of it. It was similar to my ramen except that his broth was a bit different and that he dipped everything instead of already having it in broth. That actually means that his portion was significantly larger than mine! If you make a visit to LA's Koreatown then defnitely go to Slurpin Ramen!

That delicious bowl of ramen!

I don't lift in the gym, but I do lift noodles
We nearly spent 2 hours in there talking, taking photos, videos, and eating. This place has such a chill atmosphere to come with friends and it isn't overly loud either. We were spending so much time there that by the end of it, Alex's Tsukemen was getting cold! To let you know, the cha-shu pulled apart so nicely even though it was cold! How amazing!
10 yummy points for this place out of 10! Go there and it will be self-explanatory why I gave the place a 10/10!

The Best Korean Stew!

Koreans call it "Kalbi Jim" which is a braised beef short ribs with potatoes, veggies, and all the good stuff!
SUN NONG DAN just serves it all.
I was really craving a beef stew even on a warm day and I must say that this is perfect. Have you been to any other Korean restaurants that have such a yummy beef stew? I will definitely go back to SoCal for THIS!
Sun Nong Dan has two locations: one is San Gabriel Valley and one in Koreatown LA.

We've ordered the braised beef short rib and ox tail specialty with cheese on top. We also got a side off beef soup but that doesn't compare to this MASSIVE thing. I must say that it was pricy~ $46 for the small (which is what we got) but this is PLENTY to share between 3 people.
My man is not a big fan of cheese, but I really think that the cheese is what tops off everything! They also have a good banchan (side dishes) selection as well.
To be honest, my mouth is watering just looking at this photo!
Please tell me that there is a location in NorCal that has amazing Korean beef stew/soup like this one! I've visited one place that just doesn't compare to Sun Nong Dan!
Big thanks to my friend, Shimmey, for showing me this place!

ARE OYSTERS WORTH IT?

What do you guys think of oysters? Mike Chen formerly from Off The Great Wall  calls them "boogers of the sea", which is such an un-appetizing name that I had in the back of my mind as I ate these. These oysters are from Hog Island Oyster Co. in San Francisco.
This place is quite popular so I decided to take my dearest there when he arrived from the airport. The verdict? I wasn't blown away. I think I might have to agree with Mike that they are just a blob of goo from the ocean. I will get so much hate for those that are in love with oysters, but these ones were small, tasteless, and just wasn't worth the price. The oysters that we got were the original Pacific 6 piece oysters for $18. I think I regret not getting grilled ones instead...
These oysters didn't have much taste and each of them are worth $3 which is so far from my own budget!

LUCKILY! That's not all we ordered, because we also ordered the shrimp and grits which were so above the oysters! (Picture below) The shrimp was amazing needless to say because the flavor was there and add a little bit of lemon for it to all comes together. So, I'm not saying that this place is bad, but for the price of the oysters it's not worth it. I rather come here for the small plates they offer. Also you see that they serve free bread in the photos below, but we never touched that bread. I think we came during the wrong time for bread because that bread is so hard on the touch that we didn't when take a bite of it.

I think I need to try oysters elsewhere and hopefully for a cheaper price, any recommendations? Also maybe the grilled oysters would be better since they have more flavor?

Thanks for reading!
